Investigation and modeling of pneumatic polymer solution jet formation

PROJECT

Preparation of structures suitable as tissue engineering scaffolds requires not only a knowledge about requirements for biomaterials, but also a knowledge about production processes of those materials. One of the production processes of biomaterials we investigate in the Laboratory is Solution Blow Spinning (SBS). The proper conditions for stable polymer jet formation in this process were found due to realization of the present project. In the graphic we present one part of the project results of investigation and modeling of polymer solution jet formation and results of experimental investigation leading to conclusions about stability of the formed polymer solution jet. In this project research was conducted on poly-L- lactic acid, biocompatible and biodegradable polymer, and its solutions.
